Iran NIE Governmental Symposium Symposium Panelists and Simons Centre staff outside Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade headquarters.On May 8, 2008, the Simons Centre convened a symposium in Ottawa for governmental officials featuring five U.S. experts discussing varying aspects of Iran’s nuclear program. The purpose of the symposium was to review developments following the November 2007 release of the U.S. National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) on Iran’s nuclear intentions and capabilities, focusing on the nuances of evolving U.S. policy debates and prospects for the next U.S. presidential administration. The Simons Centre welcomed the funding support for this project by the Security Research and Outreach Programme of Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
